Justine (she/her) is a Seattle-based mother, researcher, designer, artist and educator. For the past decade she has worked toward collaboratively reimagining and redefining how we care for ourselves and each other. Through rigorous research, co-creation, tangible making and storytelling, she dives deep into the subjects we usually avoid, such as trauma and grief, in order to create everyday micro moments of meaningful care.

She is currently freelancing as a design researcher and strategist. She is also an Assistant Adjunct Faculty member in and Research & Ethics Liaison for Art Center College of Design’s Undergraduate Interaction Design and Graduate Media Design Practices departments.

Previously, Justine was part of IDEO’s Health Studio where she led research and projects including creating digital support services for people living with ovarian cancer, making in-home dialysis more accessible and rethinking internal brand messaging for a large biotech company. She has also worked as a Geopolitical Researcher at Microsoft, taught English in Argentina, has been part of social documentary production teams, and was based in Rwanda while researching eHealth capacity building efforts in East Africa. She has served as a Board Member of the Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence in Seattle. Her work, Ensoma, which focuses on care for survivors of trauma, showed at Gallery 30 South in Pasadena.

Justine holds an MFA in Media Design from ArtCenter College of Design and a double Bachelors in Cultural Communication and Spanish from the University of Washington.
